Ahead of this season, Kim Joo-hyung (25, GS Caltex) chose the team he will play for for the first time.

Kim Joo-hyung, who is training in Japan wearing a GS Caltex uniform, said in an interview with the joint press corps on the 10th, "I have obtained free agent (FA) status for the first time and have come to a new team," adding, "I feel that much responsibility."

Kim Joo-hyung, who joined Hyundai Construction as the 3rd overall pick in the 1st round of the 2017-2018 season rookie draft, was designated as a free agent compensation player for Ko Ye-rim ahead of the 2019-2020 season and transferred to IBK Industrial Bank of Korea.

In the 2023-2024 season, Hwang Min-kyung returned to Hyundai Construction as a free agent compensation player.

Ahead of the 2024-2025 season, he signed a three-year, 720 million won contract with GS Caltex, exercising his FA rights.

With Kang So-hui transferring to Korea Expressway Corporation and Choi Eun-ji transferring to Heungkuk Life Insurance, GS Caltex, which had a vacancy in the outside hitter position, chose Kim Joo-hyung as an alternative.

GS Caltex is a young team.

Kim Joo-hyang, who is in his 8th season of professional volleyball, has a lot to do both on and off the court.

Kim Joo-hyung said, "I transferred to a team as a compensation player. 커뮤니티 It was something I couldn't choose," and "I was able to make a transfer that reflected my opinion to some extent after becoming a free agent. I feel that much responsibility."

He said, "I've been talking a lot with my GS Caltex colleagues about how to play. Since we're all young, we're all passionate, fun, and working hard," and emphasized team adaptation, saying, "Volleyball is a sport where you can't win with just one person being good at it. That's why we're adjusting to each other."

I am also building rapport with director Lee Young-taek.

Kim Joo-hyung said with a laugh, "I talk to the coach a lot, but I still don't know what kind of person he is," and added, "He jokes around a lot and points out key points. I think I'll be able to get to know the coach better once the season starts. Since the coach used to be a middle blocker, he pays a lot of attention to the shape of his blocking hand and positioning."

I also spend a lot of time with Coach Abo Kiyoshi.

He explained, "Coach Abo teaches me everything in detail. He emphasizes that I need to be able to receive, so I'm focusing on receiving." He also said, "He tells me the defensive positions, attack positions, and directions, and makes me keep the promises I made in advance. It's amazing, and I'm learning a lot."

GS Caltex has a surefire problem solver in Gisele Silva.

Kim Joo-hyung's role is to reduce Silva's burden.

Kim Joo-hyung said, "Since we have a good striker like Silva, our players need to support him well," and added, "I feel pressure, but I will try my best to overcome it. I want to show what you expect. This year, I absolutely do not want to get injured and I want to achieve the best results in both offense and reception."

There are few experts who classify GS Caltex as a powerhouse.

However, Kim Joo-hyung said, "We are currently evaluated as a weak team, but we trained believing that all players can play well," and asked for support from fans, saying, "I think it will give me more strength if you encourage me by saying, 'You're doing well.'"
